Australia’s Zambrero heads offshore

Australian food chain Zambrero is expanding abroad.

Mexican food-focused Zambrero will open its first overseas outlet in Thailand’s capital city Bangkok on July 31.

Bangkok is an attractive market due to its thriving economy, and the chain will open another five outlets there within the next six months, says CEO Stuart Cook.

Founder Sam Prince added: “The exciting thing for us is that there are a lot of spices and chillies used in Zambrero’s Mexican food that are similar to the Thai palate and also available locally. Their culture of sharing food is important, too, and our dishes will reflect that.”

Zambrero will continue its international expansion with six outlets planned for New Zealand by February 2015. The US, Middle East, India and China are also on its expansion map.

While keen on expanding abroad, Zambrero remains committed to its home market, where 300 new outlets will be added within the next seven years.
