Ikea boosts Thai business

Swedish furniture retailer Ikea is strengthening its presence in Thailand.

Ikea is to launch a ‘pickup point concept store’ in Phuket next year, that will allow customers to view the products at the store and order for delivery to their homes within a few days.

Thailand is the third country where it is launching the concept, after Greece and Spain.

The retailer will also open more pop-up stores as temporary showrooms. The first pop-up store was opened at Siam Square, the latest at Major Esplanade. They aim to enable customers to familiarise themselves with the Ikea product range and lure them to visit the full-scale store located n Bangkok’s Bang Na area.

Ikea also plans to add two new full-scale stores in the capital city within five to six years. Expansion plans also include an online platform.
