Courts bets big on Indonesia

Furniture and electronics retailer Courts is to open up to 12 mega stores across Indonesia over the next five years.

According to Courts Indonesia CEO Roy Santoso, four of the mega stores will be ‘big boxes’ with the remainder in shopping malls.

The first big box store is scheduled to open in October in Bekasi, West Java. It will span 12,000 sqm over two floors with an investment capital of around US$3-4 million.

Santoso said 30 per cent of the big box store will be allocated for IT and electronic products, up to 20 per cent for home appliances and accessories and the rest for furniture.

The second mega store is planned for Bumi Serpong Damai, South Tangerang, Banten.
