The Philippines’ SM Group is boosting its retail unit by adding 10 new ‘Savemore’ supermarkets before the year ends.

That would take the count to 112, says SM Supermarkets president Joey Mendoza.

He said the expansion is aimed at banking in on the country’s steady population growth and Filipinos’ shifting buying preferences.

SM also operates SM Supermarket and SM Hypermarket brand stores.
