Quick change dress tailor made for Asia

A new dress designed to let women maintain their modesty while trying on clothes might as well be tailor made for Asia where suburban stores and market outlets are smaller than an H&M fitting room.

Dubbed The Undress, it’s described by its inventors Dennis Caco and April Estrada as “a portable changing room that protects women’s dignity when they need to swap outfits in a public place”.

From the outside, The Undress looks much like a typical dress, but it comes with an array of features that enable wearers to completely change their clothes — including underwear — without exposing themselves, reports trend monitoring website Springwise.com. It features a long skirt that covers the legs entirely, along with pockets that make it possible to adjust clothes underneath while the dress remains in place.

The top half of the dress uses a drawstring to pull the body into place underneath tops and bras, allowing users to cover their top while they take off clothes.

The system can be used in a wide variety of situations where changing in a private place isn’t possible or desirable — not just cramped retail stores without changing rooms.

For example, beachgoers who need to change from a bikini back into their typical clothes, or office workers who need to slip into a nighttime outfit, or runners and cyclists who need to get out of their exercise gear, or even models who need to switch outfits quickly.
