Ikea Canada tests small store format

Ikea Canada is opening the Swedish homewares giant’s smallest store yet.

The store, in London, Ontario, will comprise just 20,000 sqft, essentially designed as a pick-up point for online purchases, but also carrying a limited range of products for immediate purchase. The store will be less than 10 per cent the size of a typical Ikea furniture store.

The concept store, scheduled to open late this year, will be equipped with 10 tablet computers for customers to order stock online which is not immediately available in-store.

According to a statement by Ikea, the store will also offer home delivery bookings, assembly, planning, returns and exchanges along with online sales support.
