Hermes Selfridges pop-up

A Hermès Selfridges pop-up in Manchester offers an “immersive experience”, inviting customers to update their silk scarves via washing machines and dip-dying.

The pop-up is fitted out with bright Hermes-orange coloured washing machines in the Exchange Square department store concession.

Dubbed ‘Hermèsmatic’, the luxury laundromat pop-up is intended as a fun service. Scarves can be dip-dyed in denim blue, bright red and fuchsia.

While the concept was launched in Strasbourg, France, more than a year ago and has since been tested in New York, Japan, Amsterdam and Munich, this is the first time it has appeared in the UK.

Running until October 12, the Manchester pop-up will also host free silk styling workshops for Hermès customers, teaching techniques for transforming the silk scarves into headpieces, bags, crowns and clothing.
