Icelandic clothing brand eyes China

Karen Millen, the Icelandic women’s designer clothing brand specialising in evening wear, coats and tailoring, is planning massive expansion in China.

Over the next five years, the brand is planning to open 65 stores in the cities of Shanghai and Beijing.

Karen Millen will be competing with other highstreet brands such as DKNY, Michael Kors, Reiss, and others.

“The first stores in Beijing and Shanghai will be company owned. We will then look at a blended model by opening stores in tier-two cities with a partner in a franchise model,” said Shaf Dewani, MD of Karen Millen Australasia.

Karen Millen sells clothing such as dresses, trousers, occasion wear, jeans, knitwear and others, accessories like belts, sunglasses, watches, bags, and many more.

Karen Millen was founded in 1981 and has stores all over the world, from UK to Asia, Australia, US and Russia.
