Cebu’s Collonade Mall reopens

Cebu City’s Colonnade Mall has reopened after a 20 million pesos refurbishment.

Unintimidated by a recent sprouting of new malls, Colonnade Shopping Mall located on Colon St in Cebu City, is confident that the makeover will attract more shoppers.

“People still go downtown despite the opening of new malls and the expansion of major malls here in Cebu. We are still confident that there is an undying market that will continue to shop in Colon,” said Valerinao Avila, VP of Colon Heritage Realty Corp which owns the mall.

The renovated mall provides more shopping convenience for customers. Its positioned as “everybody’s mall”.

“Our general manager BJ Canizares wants the mall to be known as ‘everybody’s’ mall and we have put in place all the needed renovations to do that,” said Avila.

The mall measures 6000sqm, of which 90 per cent is occupied by retail shops.

“We are zoning every floor to make shopping more convenient,” Avila said.

The mall features boutiques, fashions shops, electronic shops and food outlets on the first floor, services company such as money transfer companies LBC and Western Union on the second floor while the third floor is occupied by travel and tour shops and computer stores.

The mall’s highlights also include a space where chess lovers can play.

“There is no single place in Cebu where chess lovers go so we want to make our property a venue for that,” Avila said.

The mall also plans to trim down the Oriental theatre house and use some of its space for more shops.

“We might do some more renovations in that area, perhaps make the theatre house smaller and make space available for other purposes,” said Avila.
