Global travel retailer Dufry has partnered with aviation and travel specialist InterGlobe to take the Hudson News brand into India.
The two companies will set up and operate Hudson News Cafe retail outlets in transportation hubs like airports and train stations in India.
“This association with InterGlobe marks our foray into the Indian market,” said Julian Diaz, CEO, Dufry Group.
“India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, with tremendous potential in the travel retail segment. Together with InterGlobe we are looking forward to redefining convenience travel retailing in India, starting with Delhi as we deliver a truly unique shopping environment at the metro stations.
“InterGlobe and DMRC are both strong partners and we are convinced that this will prove to be a strong team for the further development of travel retail in India,” he said.
Initially, around 48 Hudson News Cafe outlets will be opened across six existing lines of Delhi Metro which will offer commuters with reading materials, wide range of snacks, bottled beverages, beauty aids, health, electronics and other travel items.

“Over the next few years we will jointly expand our retail footprint nationally across major travel / transit points in the country,” added Sharma.
Dufry is operating more than 1100 duty-free and duty-paid shops in airports, seaports, cruise lines, railway stations and downtown tourist areas around the world. Hudson News, a retail concept of Dufry, operates more than 500 Hudson News stores in 10 countries worldwide.
