Jollibee divests cafe franchise

Filipino fast food operator Jollibee Foods Corporation has sold its franchise for the Korean coffee and ice cream chain Caffee Ti-Amo for 20 million pesos to CafeFrance Corp, a subsidiary of Euro-Med Laboratories.

CafeFrance Corp acquired another Jollibee business Delifrance in 2010.

“JFC’s divestment of its Caffe Ti-Amo business is in anticipation of the commencement of new businesses in San Pin Wang in Guang Xi Province in the People’s Republic of China, and the joint venture with Viet Thai International Joint Stock Company in Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia,” the company said.

Jollibee Worldwide and Guangxi Zong Kai Food and Beverage Investment Co are forming a joint venture which will open Chinese fast food chain San Pin Wang, of which Jollibee will hold 55 per cent ownership.

Jollibee is also formalising a joint venture with Vietnamese company Viet Thai which will allow Jollibee to franchise restaurants in the Philippines, including the Highlands Coffee chain.

South Korean brand Caffee Ti-Amo has two outlets in Manila.
