Burger King fortifies Thai footprint

Burger King’s Thai franchisee Minor Food Group will increase the current 27 Burger King outlets in Thailand to 50 over the next five years, aiming to reach a one billion baht annual revenue.

Minor Food Group will invest 10 to 15 million baht on each new restaurant.

“The massive floods in Thailand have very limited impact on Minor Food Group and our expansion plan for the food business will be on track,” said John Heinecke, VP of Burger Thailand, a subsidiary of Minor Food Group.

During the floods, Burger Thailand opened three to four warehouses for frozen products in Bangkok outskirts and 13 for dried products in provinces.

Minor Food Group also plans to add three Sizzler restaurants, the company’s another restaurant chain, to its current 40 Sizzler outlets in the country. The company will invest 20 to 25 million baht in each Sizzler restaurant.

Minor Food Group also operates Ribs and Rumps and Coffee Club restaurants in Australia through franchising and is aiming to acquire more international restaurants.
