IT superstore to expand

Thailand’s listed IT superstore is planning to open more IT City stores – and a new upmarket store called isociety.

Eight IT City stores will be opened next year at Mega Bangna, Seacon Square Bangkae, Gateway Ekamai and Central Chaengwattana and in four Bangkok shopping centres.

“Each IT City store needs at least 500sqm,” said Ekachai Sirijirapatana, IT City president.

The company will also open an upmarket store named isociety at CentralWorld shopping complex later this month. The eight million baht store will sell mid-ranged to premium-grade products.

To match the increasing number of high-end IT users in Thailand, (largely Apple users), IT City plans to open another three to four isociety stores in major centres in 2013.

IT City, a superstore chain selling computers, peripherals and other related IT products, predicts the high demand for IT products will continue to drive 10 per cent annual growth until 2015. Currently, IT City has 47 branches across the country.
