The new TU Dome Plaza will mark its grand opening in March with its developer anticipating an eight year break-even point.
Located in Chiang Rak Rd, opposite of Thammasat University’s Rangsit Campus, the two storey TU Dome Plaza will offer 12,000sqm retail space. As of opening, the shopping mall is 75 per cent leased, with monthly rental in the region of 700-1000 baht (US$22 to $31) per square metre.
Among its tenants will be Tops Supermarket, Bar B Q Plaza, Hot Pot, KFC, Spicchio, Beautiful Optical, J-Mart, The Bangkok, Black Canyon, True Shop, Se-ed Book and many more.
The shopping mall was supposed to open 10 months ago, and was subsequently delayed by flooding, with floodwater damage averted thanks to the earlier delay.
“If we’d launched it last year on schedule, the impact would have been larger. As it is, the floods damaged only the underground area, which does not cost much to renovate,” said Ittiphon Dharakasem, MD of PB Plus Property, developer of TU Dome Plaza.
Building TU Dome Plaza had cost 450 million baht (US$14.1 million). TU Dome Plaza is renting the plot from TU Dome Residential Complex Property for 28 years from 2012.
TU Dome is a subsidiary of Chiang-Mai’s PCC Development and Construction. It was established in 2010.
