Virtual mall for Thailand

Thai mall operator The Mall Group will launch an online shopping site called www. mglobemall.com.

The new site will feature fashion and lifestyle, beauty and health, entertainment, travel and leisure and dining products and services.

The Mall Group which operates Siam Paragon, The Mall and The Emporium expects to earn 300 million baht (US$9.67 million) from the new Mglobe shopping site this year. 

Group vice chairman Supaluck Umpujh says the company has partnered with Thai Life Insurance, Bangkok Bank, Thanachart Bank, TV Pool magazine, Citibank, PTT and Major Cineplex to launching Mglobe, which is worth 100 million baht (US$3.22 million).

“We are the first social shopping lifestyle site. The online approach will give access to all customer groups, along with our services on the ground and the home shopping channel that launched last November,” said Umpujh.

The online shopping site will accommodate 1000 tenants and will accept payments through 80,000 channels.

The company targets the 24.5 million Thai internet users as its potential customers. E-commerce has earned about 70 billion baht (US$2.25 billion) last year.
