Jubilant Foodworks heads offshore

Jubilant Foodworks, the India-based company which has the master franchises for the Domino’s Pizza and Dunkin Donuts chains in India, is expanding offshore.

It plans to make its debut in Bangladesh and to expand its foothold in Sri Lanka.

According to CEO Ajay Kaul, the first Domino’s Pizza outlet will be opened in Bangladesh in one year while Sri Lanka will get another two in the coming months.

“We are in the process of identifying new partners for an entry into Bangladesh,” said Kaul.

Meanwhile, in its home country, Jubilant Foodworks will open its first Dunkin Donuts outlet in Delhi in the first quarter of next year after signing a franchise agreement with US-based Dunkin Donuts a year ago.

To capitalise on India’s booming quick service restaurant market, said to be growing at an annual rate of 25-30 per cent, Jubilant plans to open 100 Dunkin Donuts outlets across the country over the next five years.

Jubilant Foodworks, which opened 28 Domino’s Pizza outlet in India in December, reported a 294.7 million rupees (US$5.99 million) net profit during the fiscal third quarter.
