Flight Centre touches down in Hong Kong

Travel chain Flight Centre opened its first retail shop in Hong Kong today.

Located at 49 Caine Rd in Central, the new retail facility will be a Flight Centre “superstore” combining two teams of leisure travel consultants.

It will be just the third Flight Centre-branded shop in Asia and the first outside Singapore for the listed Australian travel company.

GM for Flight Centre Limited Greater China David Fraser said the new Flight Centre shop would fill a gap in the local leisure travel market.

“This new store will bring a more sophisticated retail travel offering to Hong Kong and will be the only local travel agency with a focus on servicing expatriate clients,” he said.

“The expatriate and returned overseas Chinese markets have been underserviced in Hong Kong in the past, so Flight Centre has positioned itself to pursue this great opportunity and target these markets more aggressively.

“As our leisure travel staff have previously operated from our call centre, we saw the need to open a bricks and mortar store to better service these niche markets and give expatriates an easy way to interact face-to-face with our experienced travel consultants.

“Central is a major expatriate area, so locating the store here will provide convenient access to travel services for those who reside in the areas of Mid Levels and Soho, as well as those who work in Central.

“The new Flight Centre store will be the first local travel agency to offer both local and expatriate travel consultants who are native English speaking and bi-lingual.

“Our consultants understand the needs of all types of clients and are trained airfare experts who can plan and book entire itineraries,” Fraser said.

“Services will include short and long haul international flight bookings, accommodation, car hire, transfers, tours and complete packages. Insurance, destination information, and assistance with visas and passports will also be available.”

The shop will operate alongside the company’s extensive corporate travel operations in China and Hong Kong.
