Here it is: Shanghai Tang has at last released some official interior images of its new Duddell St flagship in Hong Kong’s Central district. The store has been open little more than a week and was created after the company was outbid on the lease of its former flagship in Pedder St. As the three images show, the new store has a distinctly luxury feel and appears elegant and refined. While the 1930s ‘Shanghai opium den’ feel of the Pedder St store has been lost, a new feel
el and environment is clearly aimed at lifting the brand’s image higher up the luxury ladder. The new ‘mansion’ store has more of a European feel to it now, like Burberry or Louis Vuitton or Prada, but more colourful which has always been a standout point of difference about Shanghai Tang as a brand. It retains its distinctly Asian feel.
The three-level Shanghai Tang Mansion has a total retail floor area of 15,000 sqft, selling women’s collections, men’s collections, kidswear and accessories.
As previously reported on InsideRetail.Asia, one of the mansion’s eye-catching ornaments is an awe-inspiring “Shou” (auspicious symbol of longevity) crystal chandelier hangs from the grand foyer’s double-height ceiling.
