Pakistani clothing brand targets India

Pakistan-based clothing brand Sefam plans to make India one of its biggest markets with 200 stores to be opened in the next five years.

Sefam, whose ready-to-wear, couture lines and home textiles are offered under labels Bareezé, Leisure Club, Minnie Minors, Chinyere, Home Expressions and Kayseria, targets Mumbai, Delhi, Ludhiana and Chandigarh for its future locations.

“Owing to impressive demand for Pakistani dress material in India, we are targeting a significant strengthening of our presence in the country through a dynamic product range,” Zain Aziz, international business head, Sefam, said in a statement.

Currently, Sefam is present in India through its store at Greater Kailash, a residential area in South Delhi, consisting of several residential colonies and multiple markets. Having fashion-conscious people, Aziz is confident that Sefam will build a strong customer base in India.

“From a market opportunity perspective, the India fashion industry is growing in double digits, thereby offering Indian and foreign retailers a huge business opportunity,” said Aziz.

“We are delighted to see tremendous amount of interest for Pakistani fashion and traditional embroidery work in India, which brings us to the country.”

Sefam also plans to make its way to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Founded in 1985, Sefam sells its products through 107 stores with a total of 321 points of sale in more than six countries including Britain, Malaysia, Canada, UAE and Norway.
