Desigual opens first Asian airport store

Spanish fashion brand Desigual has opened a store at Changi Airport in Singapore – its first airport store in Asia.

Located at Terminal 3, the 90 sqm store offers women’s collection and accessories as well as creations through collaboration with French designer Christian Lacroix and designs inspired by Cirque Du Soleil.

Designed like a market, the store is adorned with art works, old furniture, Turkish carpets, period lamps and an assortment of rugs.

“Desigual recreates in its new store in Changi airport ‘La Vida es Chula’: a magical place that inspires ‘not the same’ people – a relaxing and dreamy oasis that feels like a home away from home. The fashion brand wants to transmit the idea that there is always something different, positive and fun: the Desigual experience,” the company said in a statement.

Desigual’s store at Changi Airport is the brand’s seventh in Asia. The company is currently working with partners including Dufry, World Duty Free Group and LS Travel Retail to open outlets in major hubs in South America and Asia, planning as many as 60 points of sale in 35 airports worldwide by the year’s end.

Desigual’s seven standalone stores in Asia are located in Japan and Singapore and it also has 18 shops-in-shops in department stores including Isetan, Parkson, Takashimaya, Lotte and Sogo. The first Desigual store in Shanghai is expected to open this month.
