Japan debut for Pretty Green

British clothing brand Pretty Green will open its first international store in Japan on July 26.

Pretty Green, founded by rock star Liam Gallagher, is a clothing range with a design focus of a mixture of rock and roll heritage and “quintessential British flavour”.

This will be a new arm of the business headed by Kojo Kato, a well-known figure in the Japanese fashion industry with over 30 years of experience. The store is situated in the Aoyama shopping district of Tokyo and sits among other British brands.

The label, now in its seventh season and gathering a solid following, has put together a range of clothing designed exclusively for the Japanese market. Highlights include a luxury wool mix stripe boating blazer and classic polos with a twist. The range is underpinned with a “very British” red, white and blue theme and its trademark Paisley has been exclusively developed, in those colours, especially for Japan.

There is also a dedicated Japanese on-line store where the collection will be available to customers.

“This is a huge statement for us and reflects the way the brand is growing and becoming much sought after. Japan has a vibrant fashion industry and Tokyo a strong retail market. We see this as a natural progression for us to have a presence there,” said brand director Nigel Grant.
