Georgia Gullini eyes more India stores

Italian suit brand Georgia Gullini plans to grow its Indian network with 100 new stores to be added next year.

The expansion is aimed at yielding Rs 180 crore (US$34 million) turnover by the end of 2014 and is directed at metros, second-tier and third-tier cities.

Georgia Gullini is also looking for possible tie-ups with Indian designers to better appeal to customers.

“We are currently in the process of tying up with well-known designers to create a special line and may look at retailing through their outlets. We have also invested significantly in a multi-pronged marketing campaign to increase awareness about Georgia Gullini in the Indian market,” said CEO Vivek Mehta.

Global Wool Alliance, parent company of Georgia Gullini, has been operating the brand in India for a number of years through a business-to-business model.

India accounts nine per cent of Georgia Gullini’s international network, and that figure is expected to rise to 15 per cent by the end of 2014.
