Inditex to launch e-commerce in China

Spanish fashion group Inditex will expand beyond its bricks and mortar stores in China with Zara online set to go live in September.

Inditex launched Zara online stores in the US and Japan last year, added to its e-stores in 18 European countries.

Apart from online stores, this year’s expansion plan also includes opening 130 new physical stores in the mainland, where Inditex has 305 stores, said capital markets director Marcos Lopez.

Inditex, which owns fashion brands Zara, Massimo Dutti, Pull&Bear, Stradivarius and Bershka, plans to open between 480 and 520 new physical stores worldwide this year.

Inditex gained a net profit of 432 million euros (US$540 million) for the quarter ended April 30.
