Uniqlo continues US expansion

Japanese brand Uniqlo will open its new Paramus, New Jersey, store in the Westfield Garden State Plaza next month.

Opening just in time for the holiday shopping season, the new store will occupy 43,000 sqft space over two stories, a separate dedicated external store entrance and a prominent façade. Currently the brand’s only US mall store, this will serve as the prototype for Uniqlo’s many planned future shopping mall locations in the US.

Leading up to the opening, running August 27 through September 27, Uniqlo will host a pop-up store experience for consumers inside the Westfield Garden State Plaza called the Uniqlo Pop-up Cube. The cube will be located at the food court, and give shoppers a chance to purchase Uniqlo’s premium ultra light down jackets as a teaser to the brand and range.

Uniqlo US CEO, Shin Odake, says the company is confident visitors from the Tri-State area and around the country will respond well to Uniqlo’s unique combination of both well-made and reasonably-priced, ‘Made For All’ products and its dedication to “world-class customer service”.

To staff the new store, Uniqlo is currently hiring more than 220 full-time and part-time employees. This will be the company’s fourth US retail location with its fifth US store scheduled to open this northern hemisphere fall in San Francisco. There are currently three Uniqlo stores in New York City.

The store will showcase the complete offering of Uniqlo products including men’s and women’s basics, Heattech, premium ultra light down, an endless array of colorful cashmere, as well as the new kids collection.
