Max’s Restaurant eyes Asia-Pacific

Max’s Restaurant, a Filipino chain specialising in fried chicken, is focusing on Asia-Pacific as part of its continuing international expansion plan.

CFO Rebecca Arago said overseas expansion will be directed at countries where there are high numbers of Filipino workers. After setting up in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Canada and the US, Max’s Restaurant is now mulling Asia-Pacific markets including Singapore and Australia.

“Asia-Pacific is one of our targets. Maybe we’ll try Australia and Singapore or Hong Kong. We believe there are more professional Filipinos and immigrants there,” she said.

Arago reported that Max’s Restaurant, which also serves Filipino dishes, is enjoying high sales boosted by strong patronage among OFWs.

At home, Max’s Restaurant also plans to ramp up expansion, saying the Philippine market has a lot of opportunities.

“I don’t think the Philippine market is saturated at present. I think we’re on the right track in terms of expansions,” said Arago.

Max’s Restaurant has 139 outlets domestically and 14 outlets overseas. Besides its own brand, it also franchises Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Jamba Juice in the Philippines.
