Taiwanese food group plans big

Taiwanese restaurant operator Tai Tong Food & Beverage plans to expand locally as well as overseas.

Tai Tong Food & Beverage, which operates Thai Town Cuisine, VeryThai Restaurant and 1010 Hunan Cuisine, plans to take the number of its outlets from 40 currently to 100 by 2014. It plans to open 10 new outlets in major urban cities in Taiwan before the year’s end.

The expansion pipeline will include the first overseas outlet, planned for China next year. Tai Tong Food & Beverage is targeting China’s eastern region for its debut and is currently contacting department stores in China to seek adjacent space for restaurants.

The expansion plan is also aimed at other international markets such as the US.

Tai Tong Food & Beverage is also exploring developing new brands, with a target of one new every year to reach its goal of 20 brands within a decade.

“We will launch the expansion plan by focusing on multiple brands and markets after the share listing,” said group chairman Charles Hsu.
