Accessorize now in Indonesia

Accessorize has cracked the Indonesian market with first two stores opened at Plaza Indonesia and Casablanca City in Jakarta.

The brand has partnered with the country’s PT Mitra Adi Perkasa (MAPI) which has a portfolio of more than 100 brands such as Topshop, Zara and DKNY.

This month will also see MAPI opening Accessorize stores in Galaxy Mall in Surabaya and in Oberoi and Ubud in Bali.

“Currently, MAPI has a total of 1234 stores in 42 major cities and we are well on course to achieve our full-year target of 300 new stores for 2012,” said MAPI spokesperson Fetty Kwartati.

A part of the UK-based design-led retailer Monsoon Accessorize, Accessorize focuses on jewellery and other accessory products such as bags, purses, belts, hats, scarves, flip flops, gloves, hair accessories and cosmetics.

The brand has more than 240 stores in the UK and can be found in more than 1000 stores worldwide.

Indonesia has been a major target destination of many middle and upscale brands aiming to tap into the country’s growing middle class.

Italian brands Fendi and Max Mara are said to be opening their second stores in the country by the year’s end. French department store Galleries Lafayette will also enter the country by mid next year through a local partner.
