Smoothie King to enter Singapore

US-based smoothie and health food retailer Smoothie King will open its first store in Singapore next month.

The first outlet will be at The Centrepoint shopping mall will mark the beginning of a progressive expansion in Singapore, the company says.

“A growing number of Singaporeans are embracing a healthy lifestyle and diet obviously plays a big part in someone’s overall health and fitness,” says Sung Wan Kim, president and CEO of Smoothie King.

“We’re bringing a food revolution to Singapore – the functional smoothie,” he said.

Smoothie King offers a wide range of smoothies for healthy meal replacement, weight-loss, performance, energy, and simply for refreshment.

Its entry to Singapore is part of an aggressive worldwide expansion plan of its new owner – former Korean franchisee SK USA. The Korean company bought the Louisiana-based Smoothie King in July.

From its beginning in 1973 in the US, Smoothie King now has more than 500 outlets in the US and more than 120 in Korea.
