TuneCore expands into Japan

Music distributor TuneCore has launched TuneCore Japan.

In expanding to Japan’s market, TuneCore artists in Japan will be able to sell their music in stores like iTunes and AmazonMP3, with more stores expected to sign on in the future.

“With the launch of TuneCore Japan, we, together with our partners can now widen our global reach by offering unique, culturally-relevant user experience built on the strength of TuneCore’s platform,” said Scott Ackerman, TuneCore COO.

TuneCore has always been a service that can be used worldwide, but building websites that are country-specific makes the entire distribution process easier for both artists and providers. One of the key functions of the TuneCore Japan platform is giving artists the ability to buy services and receive payments in Yen currency.

“Our goal is to help Japanese artists to gain recognition in a global music marketplace. TuneCore Japan will offer artists the industry-leading technologies and services in aiding to sell their music,” said Iichiro Noda, CEO of TuneCore Japan.

Headquartered in New York, TuneCore was launched in 2006. It distributes artists’ music to iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, Google Play, eMusic, AmazonMP3, Deezer, Simfy and many other major download and streaming sites.
