Acne Studios to enter Japan

Swedish fashion house Acne Studios will set its footprint in Japan next month when it opens its first flagship store in Minami Aoyama in Tokyo.

The store called Acne Studios Aoyama will open on December 14. The 260 sqm store is conceptualised as a ‘house within a store’. Spread over three storey, it will offer men’s denim products and accessories in the basement, womenswear and accessories on the first level and women’s denim products on the second level.

“For me it becomes an important landmark, to create a little Swedish home on the other side of the world, offering something which is a total Stockholm experience,” said Acne Studios co-founder Jonny Johansson.

The store, which will be the brand’s first standalone store in Asia, will be operated by Japanese joint venture partner Tomorrowland. The joint venture aims to open further freestanding stores and shops-in-shops over the years to come.

Formed in 1996, Acne Studios offers fashion for men, women and children. Its flagship stores are found in Stockholm, London, Paris and New York.

Japanese company Tomorrowland also operates concept stores for brands including Isabel Marant, Dries Van Noten, James Perse and Knott.
