Saturday opening for HK’s third Apple store

US technology giant Apple will open the doors of its third Hong Kong store at Hysan Place in Causeway Bay on Saturday.

At 20,000 sqft, the new store will be the company’s largest in Hong Kong. The tech giant entered Hong Kong last September at IFC Mall in Central District, with a second store following at Festival Walk in Kowloon.

The third store is part of the company’s plan to scale up investment in China which it sees as an “exciting market”.

China accounted for 15 per cent of the company’s total revenue in the year to September.

The iPhone and iPad maker says it plans to open 30-35 stores around the world next year, adding to the 390 trading as at September.

Apple, which opened its largest Asian store in Beijing in October, is tipped to open next in Chinese cities Chengdu, Dalian, Guangzhou and Chongqing.

The company is also boosting its market penetration beyond metro cities via premium authorised resellers, now estimated to number more than 2000.

The Chinese market – comprising mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau – is Apple’s second largest after the US.
