Thais to spend more

Consumer spending in Thailand in 2013 is tipped to be the highest in seven years, says a survey.

The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce polled 1213 respondents and most of them plan to spend more on merit-making, goods and travel next year.

Spending on domestic travelling is expected to soar, with 89 per cent saying they have plans.

Total consumer spending is expected to rise 15.6 per cent on last year.

The survey said the country’s strong economic growth, wage increases and political peace contributed to the boost.
