Krispy Kreme debuts in India

US doughnut brand Krispy Kreme will open its first location in India on January 19 in Bangalore.

Krispy Kreme in India is run by Citymax Hotels, with which the US company signed a partnership last June. Citymax, a part of Dubai-based Landmark Group, agreed to develop 80 Krispy Kreme stores in the south and west regions of India over five years.

“Our new partnership with Citymax Hotels represents the extraordinary growth opportunity we believe exists for the Krispy Kreme brand in India,” said Krispy Kreme president Jeff Welch.

Vishal Sawhney, president of Citymax Hospitality, said they will make some local adaptations to suit the Indian palate as the brand reaches out to a wide customer base.

The North Carolina-based brand known for its glazed doughnuts currently has 730 stores in 22 countries including the Philippines, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, Japan, and Australia.
