A new electronics mall concept is planned for Taiwan.
Taipei Information Park, a multi-functional electronics shopping mall owned by Hon Hai Group, says it will start scouting tenants in April with a plan to open next year. The mall is estimated to cost US$131.2 million.
“Taipei Information Park will be a new space for people to experience the latest technological trends,” said chairman Gou Shou-cheng of Syntrend Creative Park, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Group.
“It will be a park built for institutions to stage large tech expos, for firms to sell the most advanced gadgets through physical or virtual stores, and most importantly, for customers to enjoy their shopping experience,” the chairman added.
The mall, spread across 8894 sqm over 12 floors, is located at Zhongzheng District. It will house a car park for 2000 vehicles.
Apple and Samsung are expected to open flagship stores on the first and second levels of the mall. Aside from shops, the mall is designed to hold forums, events for product launches, as well as restaurants and gyms.
“Our goal is to develop a superior version of Japan’s Akihabara Electric Town, and we are confident that we will achieve our aims,” said Syntrend CEO Meili Liao.
