Malaysian chain eyes Myanmar

Malaysian fast food chain Marrybrown has signed a master franchise agreement for Myanmar.

Marrybrown, which offers staples on most fast food menu boards including rice-based products, chicken porridge, sate burger and curry kari, plans to grow the brand in Myanmar to 20 outlets in five years.

“We are the first international fast food company to operate in Myanmar. We see high demand for our products there and we expect our operations there to run smoothly,” said MD Nancy Liew.

Liew said that Burmese people are hungry for trendy, fast and value-for-money fast food restaurants.

The chain, established 31 years ago, operates in 15 countries throughout Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Locally, it plans to open 20 new restaurants this year.
