Lulu’s first India mall opens

Lulu Group, also known as EMKE Group of Abu Dhabi, working with mall advisory company Beyond Squarefeet, has completed the fit-out of its first Indian mall – the Lulu Mall.

Located in Kochi, Kerala, LuLu Mall is a 2.5 million sqft complex and spread over three levels, making it one of the largest malls in India. The mall is complete with a full line of amenities and facilities which include international brands of luxury and lifestyle, a food court that offers international cuisines, coffee shops, money exchange, dine-in outlets, a 22,000 sqft entertainment zone, an ice rink that’s the first of its kind in South India, prayer halls, and baby care centre among other facilities.

The mall, designed by WS Atkins of the UK, has parking capacity for 3000 cars.

Beyond Squarefeet was a key coordinator with retailers, which has now brought the mall to a stage where it offers a plethora of shopping options and experiences with its retail mix of regional, Indian and international brands. It managed the entire fit-out, including safety, security and the aesthetics of all the retail outlets.

“Lulu Group had aspired that this mall be a bench mark when it is launched and we helped them achieve their goals by motivating and helping the retailers to open on schedule,” said Beyond Squarefeet chief mall mechanic Susil Dungarwal.

“Lulu Mall, is one of the largest malls managed by Beyond Squarefeet. The challenge was in creating international techniques and specifications to the Indian context,” added Dungarwal.
