New mall for Singapore

Singapore’s Orchard Rd will soon have another new mall on its retail strip – Orchard Gateway.

Set to open in November, Orchard Gateway is now 80 per cent pre-leased, according to its marketing agent Savills.

The mall, comprising 180,000 sqft of leasable space over six levels (including two basement floors), will house fashion and fashion-related and lifestyle brands. There will also be a range of food-and-beverage (F&B) outlets.

Brands which have committed to Orchard Gateway includes American chain Crate & Barrel, which will open a five level flagship store, Swatch, which will open its third mega store in Asia at the mall, and UK brand Religion, which has never been to Singapore.

“The mall will be dedicated to all things and activities for fashionable shoppers across all ages and gender; its unique tenant mix will appeal to the urban, modern, confident, trendy, creative and independent-minded shoppers,” said Vincent Soh, executive director of OCBC Bank’s Property Services, joint developer of the mall.

The mall will also be connected to other malls in that stretch of the shopping belt by a glass overhead bridge, an underpass beneath Orchard Rd, and inter-mall walkthroughs.

“Some of the other brand names will include J.Lindeberg, which is a fashion brand from Sweden. They will be introducing their ladies range for the first time in Singapore. There is also the US shoe brand Red Wings shoes – they will be opening their first concept store in Singapore,” said Sulian Claire Tan-Wijaya, senior director at Savills.
