EMKE plans further Indian investment

EMKE Group of Abu Dhabi is planning further investments in India including two new shopping malls.

The company, which opened its first India mall in Kochi in March, says it will open two more shopping malls in Kerala.

“Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode are going to get Lulu malls and this is part of the Rs 3000 crore investment plan I have for Kerala over the next three-year period,” said EMKE Group MD and founder M A Yusuffali.

Construction of the Thiruvananthapuram mall will begin within six months while the Kozhikode mall will start in January 2014.

EMKE Group will also open a warehouse called Emmay Logistics with a capacity to store 18,000 tonnes of frozen products.

“We have finished 60 per cent of the work and will open it by December,” said Yusuffali.

It will also build a convention centre in Bolgatty, it says.
