Lee Cooper plans own India stores

British brand Lee Cooper, which has been present in India for 18 years through licensee, is planning to open its own stores in the country.

“We feel the time is right for the brand to stand on its own with a mono-brand store, and if India continues to grow as per our expectations, it will be the second largest in the next five years,” says Andy Dunkley, CEO of Red Diamond Holdings, which directly owns the brand Lee Cooper.

Lee Cooper, which offers lifestyle categories like apparel, fragrance, footwear, head wear, eyewear, luggage and underwear, is now owned by New York-based company Iconix Brand Group, after buying it for US$72 million.

The brand operates in India through licensing agreement with M&B Footwear.
