Hangzhou gets first Sam’s Club

Sam’s Club, the membership mass merchandise retail arm of Walmart, has opened its first store in Hangzhou.

The store, located at XiXi In-City, is the ninth Sam’s Club in China. The store offers around 4600 kinds of products such as dry goods, fresh foods, apparel and appliances.

Measuring more than 20,000 sqm, the new store also offers imported products to meet Chinese consumers’ growing love for global brands.

Sam’s Club COO Andrew Miles says China’s rapid development and rising disposable income have prompted Sam’s Club development in the nation. A 10th outlet is planned for Suzhou, he says.

First Sam’s Club was opened in Shenzhen in 1996.
