Uniqlo to open 50 Philippine stores

Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo says it is set to open 50 new stores in the Philippines over the next three years.

It recently opened its fourth store in the country at SM Pampanga, prior to that its third at SM Aura in Taguig City.

Two more stores are set to open in Fairview and Glorietta 5 next month.

“We will also open an additional five stores before the year ends,” said Katsumi Kubota, COO of Fast Retailing in the Philippines, adding that Uniqlo is doing well in the country.

“We are driven by the economic growth of this country. We are watching how business here goes. Our expansion continues,” Kubota said.

He said Uniqlo also plans to open stores in Cebu.

The brand, owned by Fast Retailing, has more than 1200 stores in 13 markets including Japan, China, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and the US.
