Indian food chain looks overseas

Indian quick service restaurant chain Fisheteria is planning to debut overseas next year.

Fisheteria, owned by WestCoast Fine Foods, plans to open in Southeast Asian markets including Singapore and Malaysia by mid 2014. Its ambitious plan also includes expanding into more developed markets such as the UAE.

The chain, which was launched in November 2012, offers a menu that includes fish and praws with salads, burgers, sandwiches, wraps and rolls. It currently operates six outlets in Mumbai, and plans to add another 10 this year in Bangalore and Pune.

“Most Indian customers don’t know how to cook prawns beyond a prawn curry or prawn biryani. Because of this, we are serving up dishes like prawn burgers, prawn balchao, basil chilli fish, etc.,” said WestCoast Fine Foods director Shivam Gupta.

Fisheteria boasts good quality seafoods as it raises its own fish and prawns, says Gupta.
