Hunza Properties to open Malaysia mall

Property developer Hunza Properties is to open the doors of its shopping mall, Gurney Paragon, in Malaysia in July.

Located at seafront promenade in Gurney Drive in Penang, Gurney Paragon offers a net lettable area of 700,000 sqft.

Currently 80 per cent leased, the mall will host international and national brands, including H&M, Sephora, Michael Kors, Debenhams, Victoria’s Secret and Charles & Keith.

“We want to bring in the more interesting international brands. There is demand for these brands, but so far the market has been under-served,” said Hunza executive chairman Khor Teng Tong.

The mall had cost the developer 500 million ringgit (US$155.2 million).

Hunza expects the mall to be 95 per cent leased by the end of the year.

Located in one of Penang’s most popular tourist destinations, the immediate catchment is foreigners living at the residential developments around the area.
