Wendy’s sets Philippine goal

US fast food chain Wendy’s aims to achieve 1 billion pesos (US$23 million) in sales by the year-end.

WenPhil Corp, its Philippines franchisee, hopes to generate higher sales from its renovated stores.

The company is investing 3 to 5 million pesos in renovating each store in the Philippines.

“In renovated Wendy’s stores, we saw sales increases as high as 50 per cent. With the renovation of the existing stores, plus the opening of new ones, we expect to do well this year,” said WenPhil Corp chairman Elizabeth Orbeta.

Wendy’s plans to take its store count in the Philippines to 50 this year from current 33, all located in Luzon.

It says expansion plans to Visayas and Mindanao are currently on hold due to logistical issues.
