The number of Indian apparel retailers who are trading online is growing, according to a new study by retail IT solutions provider Ginesys.
The study revealed that 27.5 per cent of 200 organised apparel retailers surveyed said they have adopted e-commerce to sell their products.
About 12.8 per cent of organised apparel retailers have invested in their own e-commerce infrastructure and a growing percentage are also planning to use e-commerce as platform to boost sales.
Ginesys CEO Prashant Lohia said retailers have realised that a significant chunk of their target consumer base is now online.
“Organised retailers with their pan-India bandwidth and large resources are rightly placed to tap into this opportunity.”
Selling through secondary e-tailers and online marketplaces is also a growing trend in India with 7.3 per cent of retailers who have their own e-commerce sites also present on third party online platforms.
