Yonex to enter India

Japanese retailer Yonex is to enter India’s sports goods market.

Yonex’s distributor in Asean countries, Sunrise & Co, plans opening 50 stores within a year with first store tipped to open at Select Citywalk in New Delhi.

India’s sportswear market, valued at Rs1900 crore (approximately $340 million), is expected to be populated with foreign players aiming to tap the country’s growing demand for sporting goods and apparel.

French retailer Decathlon also plans to open single-brand stores in India following the government’s approval to its investment proposal of around Rs700 crore.

So as Finnish company Amer Sports which plans to open Wilson branded stores in India after it terminated its distribution partnership with Future Group.
