The Coffee Club to enter Malaysia

Australian cafe chain The Coffee Club has partnered with Warung Sentral Sdn Bhd to expand into Malaysia.

The agreement will see at least 10 The Coffee Club stores open across Malaysia by 2017, the first in December 2013.

The Coffee Club currently has 66 international stores with 46 in New Zealand, 12 in Thailand, three in China, three in Egypt, one in the Maldives and one in New Caledonia.

CEO Jason Ball said the Malaysia signing was an important milestone for the future growth of the brand internationally.

“Asia represents huge growth potential for The Coffee Club brand and we are excited by the new Malaysia venture,” said Ball.

“This is a very significant time for The Coffee Club as we expand our international footprint.”

The Malaysia signing follows a deal between Minor Food Group and Al Nasser Holdings to expand the brand into the Middle East and North Africa and the opening of the first The Coffee Club store in Maldives in July.

The Coffee Club opened its doors for the first time in Brisbane in 1989 and currently operates 329 stores across Australia.
