Neo Group heads offshore

Food retailer Neo Group is expanding its footprint beyond Singapore.

It has partnered with PT Umi Sushi Indonesia to open three “umisushi” stores in Jakarta.

The first of the three stores has been opened at the Kota Kasablanka Mall while the other two will be opened within the next two years.

“It was always our intention to replicate the “umisushi” model overseas as we believe that the underlying concept of “quick service food” has wide-spread appeal among the masses, particularly given the busy lifestyles of city dwellers today,” said Neo Group CEO Neo Kah Kiat.

In addition to its foray into Indonesia, Neo Group is also actively working toward its target of 30 “umisushi” stores in Singapore by 2016 from existing 19.

“Since we first introduced “umisushi” and its promise of affordable and fresh Japanese convenience food in 2007, our food retail stores have grown in popularity and outlets across Singapore,” said executive director Jeffrey Liew.
