Alcott cuts ties with Indian partner

Italian fashion brand Alcott and and Indian partner DLF Brands have parted ways.

The move will see DLF Brands shutting down Alcott stores across India due to the brand’s poor performance there.

Alcott had 15 stores in India, with the last one in a South Delhi mall slated for closure this month.

It is unclear if Alcott will seek new partnership.

According to DLF Brands MD Timmy Sarna, Alcott is among apparel brands, including Esprit, which failed to survive in India’s competitive market.

DLF Brands says it remains positive about the domestic market and has recently forged partnerships with US fashion chain Forever 21 and Italian cosmetics brand Kiko to expand in the nation.

“We have already started opening new stores from July. The plan is to be present in metro cities as well as smaller destinations such as Surat, Baroda, Kochi, Jalandhar and Raipur,” said Sarna.
