Lindex enters China

Swedish fashion retail chain Lindex has partnered with Suning to expand into China.

The partners plan to open 100 stores across the nation over four years, the first of which will open in September 2014 in Shanghai.

China will be Lindex’s 17th international market.

“Our concept of affordable fashion for fashion-conscious women has proven to be very successful in many countries, including countries operated through our franchising model. This is a great way for us to reach out to more customers worldwide,” said Lindex CEO Göran Bille.

The Lindex store will offer a modern shopping environment with choices of fashion for women and children and lingerie.

Lindex has around 430 stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Baltic states, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia and the Middle East. It also offers lingerie, ladies’ wear, children’s wear and cosmetics through its online shop www.lindex.com.

Suning’s main business is retail, combined with real estate development and service industry. The company operates more than 1700 stores in China and other parts of Asia and an e-commerce site. It plans to develop 350 shopping centres by 2020.
